The bird’s eye jazz club is located in a historic building that belongs to the Lohnhof Foundation. For reasons of historical preservation as well as architectural and fire-protection conditions, unlimited barrier-free access is not possible. Therefore, the bird’s eye jazz club is not fully accessible for people with limited mobility.
More information is included below. If you have any questions, please contact us by telephone, and we can plan your visit with you. Tel.: +41 61 263 33 41 | E-Mail: office@birdseye.ch
There are six steps in all to get into the bird’s eye jazz club. There are stable handrails on both sides, but they cannot be reached with both hands at the same time. The personnel at our bar can help people with limited mobility get up the stairs, as well as people who need wheelchairs.
We kindly request that you contact our office in advance at +41 61 263 33 41 or give us information about your needs when you make an online reservation.
For a spontaneous visit, you can also call the club directly (+41 61 263 33 40) or ask someone outside the club to inform our personnel about your arrival.
Unfortunately, no ramp is available, so access with an electric wheelchair is extremely difficult. Our personnel require further assistance in such a case.
For seating for wheelchairs in the club, please consult with the personnel at the bar.
Our restrooms are up seven steps. There are stable handrails on both sides. They can be reached with both hands at the same time. As access to the restrooms and to the toilets themselves is quite narrow, we do not have wheelchair-accessible toilets. The closest wheelchair-accessible public toilets are at the Barfüsserplatz tram stop.
We do not have a hearing induction loop. The sound comes directly from the instruments or out of the loudspeakers.
For people with impaired vision, we recommend the seats in the front part of the club. We kindly request that you give us information about your needs when you make an online reservation.
Although the entrance to the bird’s eye jazz club is in a car-free part of downtown Basel at Kohlenberg 20, access for dropping guests off is available by means of Leonhardsgraben all the way up to Theaterstrasse. For "dropping off and picking up visitors to the club who have infirmities or limited mobility", you may stop briefly in the spaces marked in yellow across the street from the entrance.
Please note that no parking spaces are available.
As far as possible, the website of the bird’s eye jazz club is designed to be easily accessible. Automated tests (according to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) resulted in a score of 88%. Further improvements and adaptations will be integrated into our ongoing development and maintenance of the website.
